Daryna Gladun is a Ukrainian poet, translator, artist and researcher from Bucha (born in Khmelnytskyi)

She is the author of four poetry collections (in Ukrainian): «Рубати дерево» [To chop the tree] (2017), the winner of Smoloskyp Literary Prize and Oles Honchar International Ukrainian-German Literary Prize; «Із тіні красивих червоних хлопчиків» [From the shadow of handsome red boys] (2020), named one of the best poetry books of 2020 by PEN Ukraine; «Радіо «Війна» [Radio "War"] (2022), translated into Polish by Janusz Radwański, and into Montenegrin by Anđela Radovanović; «Війна не почнеться завтра» [The war doesn't start tomorrow] (2023), translated into Swedish by Mikael Nydahl. Co-author with Lesyk Panasiuk of poetry collection «Портрет сонця в бомбосховищі» [Portrait of the sun in the bomb shelter] (2023), translated into Polish by Aneta Kamińska. Co-author of children book about prominent Ukrainian women «Це теж зробила вона» [She also made it] (2018). Her poems and short stories have been translated into dozens of languages and published in numerous Ukrainian and International magazines and anthologies.

 

Gladun translates contemporary literature from different languages. She is the translator and co-translator of a book by Valzhyna Mort «Епідемія Троянд» [Epidemic of Roses] (2019), two anthologies of Belarusian literature, and selected works of Louise Glück, Morelle Smith and Mirmehdi Ahaohlu. Co-translator of a libretto Limbus-Limbo by Patrick Hahn for an exhibition «Корисні копалини» [Subsoil assets] (2021).

Her major scientific interests lie in the field of contemporary Ukrainian literature and poetry performance. She published dozens of articles in various journals and participated in numerous scientific conferences in Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, and the USA.

Daryna Gladun is a curator of Performance School at Creative Youth Seminar (since 2017) and a participant of Performance Studies International (since 2020). She is the author of a wide range of solo and group performances. Daryna conducted lectures and workshops on performance, translation, and blackout poetry and organized literary events for prominent Ukrainian institutions and festivals.

Gladun is a laureate of numerous literary contests, a recipient of fellowships from the President of Ukraine, International Writers’ and Translators’ House, House of Europe, Staromiejski House of Culture, Potsdam University, Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), Leslie Center for Humanities at Dartmouth College. She is a participant of various international literary and art residences, festivals, art projects in China, Bangladesh, USA, Canada, Israel, Ukraine, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Italy, Latvia, Moldova, Romania, France, Poland.

Gladun’s poetry has been set to music, used for various plays, poetry performances and art exhibitions all over the world.

Lesyk Panasiuk is a Ukrainian poet, translator, artist and designer from Bucha (born in Zhytomyr)

He is the author of four poetry collections (in Ukrainian): «Камінь дощу» [Rainstone] (2013), the winner of Young Republic of Poets Prize; «Справжнє яблуко» [Real Apple] (2014), the winner of Smoloskyp Literary Prize; «Крики рук» [Screams of Hands] (2018), named one of the best poetry books of 2018 by PEN Ukraine, translated into Russian by Stanislav Belskyi, Kateryna Derisheva, Iya Kiva, Vladimir Korkunov and Dmitry Kuzmin; «Розкидані обличчя» [Scattered faces] (2023), translated into Polish by Aneta Kamińska. Co-author with Daryna Gladun of poetry collection «Портрет сонця в бомбосховищі» [Portrait of the sun in the bomb shelter] (2023), translated into Polish by Aneta Kamińska. Co-author of poetry collection by four authors, Insula Timpului [Island of Time] (2019), published in Romanian translation by Ivan Pilchin. Co-author of children book about prominent Ukrainian women «Це теж зробила вона» [She also made it] (2018). His poems have been translated into dozens of languages and published in numerous Ukrainian and International magazines and anthologies.

He is the co-author of a type of short poetic form Poetry Zhuk that employ a 3-line pattern (2–2–2).

 

Panasiuk translates contemporary literature from different languages. He is the translator and co-translator of a book by Dmitry Kuzmin «Ковдри не передбачені» [Blankets Are Not Provided] (2018), Artem Werle «Як пробачити сніг» [How to Forgive the Snow] (2019), Valzhyna Mort «Епідемія Троянд» [Epidemic of Roses] (2019), Siarhey Prylutski «Еврідіка не озирається» [Eurydice Does Not Look Back] (2021), three anthologies of Belarusian literature, and selected works of Louise Glück, Warsan Shire, Yulia Tsimafeeva, Jaan Kaplinski, Aneta Kamińska, Inga Pizāne, Leo Butnaru, Aurel Pantea, Rafał Gawin and others.

He is the author of a wide range of solo and group performances. Lesyk conducted lectures and workshops on performance, translation, and blackout poetry and organized literary events for prominent Ukrainian institutions and festivals.

 

As a designer, he worked with World Bank, USAID, German-Ukrainian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Tikkurila, Kolorit, Bucha City Council, Yiddishkayt etc.; created hundreds of book covers for dozens of publishing houses in Ukraine and abroad.

Panasiuk is a laureate of numerous literary and art contests, a recipient of fellowships from the President of Ukraine, International Writers’ and Translators’ House, House of Europe, Staromiejski House of Culture, Shevchenko Scientific Society, Dartmouth College, Literary Colloquium Berlin, PEN Ukraine, Translatorium. He is a participant of various international literary and art residences, festivals, art projects in Bangladesh, USA, Canada, Australia, Israel, Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, Sweden, Latvia, Moldova, Romania, France, Poland. 

 

Since 2023, he is a member of PEN Ukraine.
